| BREST, FRANCE-(11-7-2003) After a stand by wednesday tension is increasing on the competitors park. At mid day the wind is still missing ! A minimum of 4 qualification races is necessary before sharing the competitors in 3 groups, gold, silver and bronze for the final races. At 5 p.m. a thermic breeze (north 10/12 kts) has permitted to organize 2 races The first sailors will be back at 8.30 The women sailed two races in 5/10 kts wind. The 1st (ex aequo) at the general ranking are the Russians Vlada ILIENKO (2nd at 2002 European championship) / Natalia GAPONOVICH and the ADAM sisters from Le Havre. Next are the Canadian team (PROVAN / GIRKE) and the Slovenian team (DEKLEVA / MAUCEC). The French team PETETJEAN / DOUROUX (3rd at the 2002 world championship) are at the 7th position, the Brest team LE BERRE / RIOU are at the 27th position. Only one race has be sailed by the men. The Japanese crews are the 1st in each group. The French CHARBONNIER / BAUSSET are at the 2nd position in their group. On friday the races are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.(or later). For the women there will be another repartition in two new groups. The men remain in their groups because they raced only on regatta.
